A Gulf Resident in Dubai lost Dhs 9,000 after Being Tricked into Installing a Private Parking Shed

After tricking a Gulf citizen into erecting a private parking shed in his house, an Arab and another man of a different nationality stole Dhs 9,000 from him.

The Dubai Misdemeanour Court fined the offender and his accomplice Dhs 9,000 and sentenced them to one month in jail, followed by deportation.

According to the official record, a Gulf citizen complained in January that someone had tricked him into putting a parking shed inside his home.
The victim said that the defendant agreed to pay him Dhs19,000 to finish the task, but that the defendant also requested a Dhs9,000 down payment and provided him with an account number to deposit.

At the first defendant’s request, the victim deposited Dhs 9,000 to a bank account in the second defendant’s name. However, the first defendant put off the process, claiming that he did not receive any money and was accidentally moved to another account. As a result, the victim told the police what had transpired.

Investigations revealed that the two defendants had been convicted of the same felony before, and that multiple reports had been filed against them by other victims, a police officer said during the interrogations. After being taken into custody and questioned, the first defendant denied any relationship to the victim and stated that he had not received any money from him.
