After a collision in Dubai, a manager filed a civil compensation claim against a driver who seriously hurt his knee, asking for Dh600,000. The claimant had to use a walking stick for a while after suffering severe knee injuries that required an emergency operation to repair his posterior cruciate ligament.
He was taken to the hospital immediately, where examinations showed that he had abrasions above the wounded knee and that his right knee was swollen and painful. The patient had a right knee lateral collateral ligament damage and a posterior cruciate ligament cortical avulsion fracture, according to the results of the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) that the doctors ordered.
The defendant entered a guilty plea before the judge, and the Dubai Traffic Court found him guilty and fined him Dh4,000.
The manager’s attorney, Hani Hammouda Hagag, filed a civil complaint against the defendant at the relevant civil court to recover Dh600,000 for his client’s medical, physical, financial, and emotional damages.
In the case, the attorney claimed that his client’s knee was temporarily handicapped as a result of the collision and that his doctor had advised him to use a walking stick and to avoid putting too much weight on his right knee.
