Dia Mirza, a Bollywood actress, has opened out about taking a vacation during the prime of her early career. During her interview on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast “All About Her,” the ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ actress confessed that she decided to take a break at the age of 24 to reconnect with herself. Dia revealed that, despite obtaining financial freedom and professional success, she felt unhappy and decided to pause and reconsider her life choices.
Dia explained, “Like many others, I was drawn into the realm of commodification, and as a model, my primary task was to sell everything. And it’s quite interesting because I felt so divided. In fact, I felt uncomfortable even in so many of the roles I played because I knew they possessed the same integrity, intelligence, and ethics that I did. And if I couldn’t embrace that spirit in the roles I was portraying, what was I standing for?
The ‘Sanju’ actress continued, “I stepped back in 2005. I took a two-year break during what is called your peak. I was 24. And I stated I didn’t like what I was doing. I’m not having fun. I’ve made money. I am self-sufficient; I have a home to call my own in a city that has adopted me, and I am not concerned about my bills, but this does not make me happy. And that’s when I understood I had to get back to myself. So it was sort of a homecoming.
