Kerala Delivery Rider Injured in UAE Accident Receives Historic Dhs 5 Million Compensation

The Dubai Court rendered a precedent-setting decision, compensating a young Malyali named Shiffin—who was rendered paralysed after suffering severe injuries in a tragic car accident—Dhs 5 million. This is the second instance in the United Arab Emirates where the victim of a car accident has been awarded such a large sum of money.

Fran Gulf Advocates, who have now won two records in compensation cases for solicitors, led the case. The mishap took place on March 26, 2022. Shiffin, the son of Ummer from the Koorad Kummali household in Malappuram, Kerala, came to the United Arab Emirates to assist his father, an expatriate, in providing for his family of five. At the age of 22, Shiffin started working at a supermarket. This 22-year-old boy was struck by a native-driven car after leaving the supermarket on a motorbike carrying merchandise.

With the aid of CCTV footage, the police swiftly captured the driver after he had fled the scene. Shiffin suffered severe injuries. The hospital in Al Ain received him. According to experts, he had brain damage. As soon as he learnt of the tragedy, his father, who was at the time in Saudi Arabia, quit his job and hurried to the UAE. He received treatment for two weeks before being moved to a private hospital for superior care.
