Saudi Arabia Halts the Issue of visas for Umrah Before the Hajj

Beginning on April 29, 2025 (1 Dhul-Qa’dah 1446 AH), the suspension will last until June 10, 2025 (14 Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH). The action is intended to guarantee the seamless coordination of the Hajj and protect pilgrims’ safety at the busiest time.

Additionally, authorities verified that from April 23, entry to Mecca has been limited and requires a formal permit obtained via the Absher or Muqeem systems. Entry is restricted to those with valid Hajj permits, residents of Mecca, and Hajj labourers.

The ministry cautioned that anybody without a Hajj visa would not be allowed to enter or remain in Mecca after April 29 and that anyone who do so may face legal repercussions. The Hajj this year is anticipated to start on June 6, 2025, contingent on the moon sighting.

For pilgrims from over 50 nations, Saudi Arabia has launched six officially approved Hajj packages that accommodate a variety of spending limits and service requirements. The actions underscore Saudi Arabia’s efforts to manage the anticipated high volume of pilgrims and ensure the successful completion of the Hajj in 2025.

Additionally, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has revealed that, starting April 23, entry to the Holy City of Makkah will be limited and requires a formal permit obtained through the Absher or Muqeem platforms. Only those with valid Hajj permits, Makkah residents, and Hajj labourers are permitted admission.
