
Following a fire that started early on Sunday, April 13, 2025, Sharjah Police is still evaluating and investigating the situation in coordination with the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority and other pertinent organizations. The event occurred in a 52-story residential tower in the emirate that housed more than 1,500 people of all nationalities.
At 11:31 a.m., Sharjah Police’s operations center received an emergency complaint stating that a fire had broken out in an apartment on one of the upper floors. Security, backup, and emergency police units were sent out immediately. The site’s surroundings were guarded to guarantee effective access, emergency routes were made clear for National Ambulance and Civil Defence vehicles, and traffic was controlled.
Hundreds of inhabitants were safely evacuated from the building because of the rescue personnel’s quick reaction.Regretfully, there were five fatalities and nineteen injuries from the fire; all injured people were taken right away to get the care they needed.
All specialised teams worked tirelessly from the first moments of the incident, focusing on safe evacuation procedures and protecting residents in the affected building and neighbouring towers, maintaining the highest level of preparedness,” emphasised Brigadier General Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, Director-General of Operations and Security Support at Sharjah Police.
