Sharjah Teacher Faces Prosecution for Insulting a Student

The Sharjah Misdemeanour Court heard a case in which an Arab teacher was accused of verbally abusing a student after receiving a complaint that he told the student, ‘You’re not well-mannered.’ During the trial, the court heard the defendant’s evidence and faced him with the charge of insulting the victim, a fellow student.

However, the teacher refuted the accusation, claiming that he did not say anything unpleasant to the student, as described in the complaint. The teacher informed the judicial body that what actually occurred differed from what was presented in the case file, noting that he was the one who was later subjected to abuse by the student, prompting him to take the necessary legal action and file a lawsuit about the incident.

The charge filed against him was unfounded, as he was the one who was later insulted by the student, he noted, stressing that what was being considered in court was merely a nasty allegation. He asked an adjournment so that he could write a memorandum of defence outlining his legal position and any supporting papers. After studying the case file and hearing from all parties, the court decided to postpone judgment until a later session.
