MERED, the award-winning real estate developer, has launched its ‘bay villas’, a unique collection of five waterfront properties on Al Reem Island. Each villa is named after a famous city along the French Riviera and borrows its identity from the spirit of its namesake destination. The villas are created by London-based interior company Dseesion and are part of Riviera Residences, MERED’s landmark waterfront project built by Pritzker Prize-winning architects Herzog & de Meuron.
One of the main architectural aspects of the collection is the addition of private internal courtyards. Rooted in regional architectural traditions, these manicured spaces serve as a quiet oasis within each property, providing natural light, seclusion and a sense of calm rarely found in contemporary coastal buildings. Riviera Residences’ overarching philosophy is reflected in the courtyards, which foster a conversation between Mediterranean and Emirati living customs.
Michael Belton, CEO of MERED, said: “Luxury today is defined by individuality. Homes that provide a true feeling of personality and are unmatched elsewhere are what buyers are searching for. Our goal with the Bay Villas was to design homes with genuinely unique personalities. The timeless influence of the French Riviera and the rich cultural diversity of Abu Dhabi are combined in each villa’s own design inspiration and relationship to the waterfront.
