South Africa and the UAE Will Improve Air Connection

A Record of Discussions between the UAE and the Republic of South Africa has been initialled by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). A protocol to amend certain terms of the Bilateral Air Services Agreement, negotiated by both governments, has been initialled and is included in this Record of Discussions.

Additionally, the Record grants both states’ national airlines more operating rights, promoting improved air connectivity and increased bilateral collaboration. This milestone demonstrates the UAE’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its bilateral air transport ties and expanding its global connectivity, thereby securing its leading position in the aviation industry.

To enhance standards and cooperation between the two parties, the protocol incorporates additional revisions to the agreement, including the inclusion of an article addressing aviation security.

To enhance collaboration between the national carriers of both states and provide passengers with a range of options, the Code Share article has been revised to reflect the latest international standards and industry best practices in the aviation industry.

“The UAE is eager to fortify its ties with its international partners, and we look forward to opening new horizons of cooperation with the Republic of South Africa in a way that serves mutual interests and supports the sustainable growth of the sector,” stated GCAA Director-General Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi.
