UAE Indian Embassy Urges Residents to Honor the 80th Independence Day on August 15

The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi has invited members of the Indian community and lovers of India from around the UAE to partake in the celebrations honoring India’s 80th independence day. The ceremonies will take place on August 15, 2026, at the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi, beginning at 6.30 a.m.

The event is expected to bring together members of the community and Indian friends to commemorate the occasion and honor India’s heritage and national spirit. Last year, hundreds of Indian community members gathered at the Indian Consulate in Dubai to commemorate India’s 79th Independence Day. Families, children, and elderly gathered for the occasion, with many dressed in the Indian tricolor and brandishing flags as they celebrated the national day with enthusiasm.

The festivities began with the hoisting of the Indian flag and the national anthem, followed by an address by then-Consul General Satish Sivan, who emphasized India’s prosperity and the critical role of the Indian diaspora in developing ties between India and the UAE.

The formal procedures were followed by cultural performances of traditional and modern Indian music and dance. Last year, on August 15, the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, was lighted in the colors of the Indian flag to commemorate India’s 79th Independence Day.
