Through the Yango application, the Sharjah Asset Management Company, the government’s investment arm, has begun a trial program for the emirate’s first digital taxi booking service in partnership with the international technology firm “Yango Group.”
Walid Al Sayegh, the CEO of the business, said “We always strive to achieve fruitful partnerships which drive sustainable development in the emirate through strategic investments and innovative projects that support diversity and economic growth. The pilot application will start with Sharjah Taxi vehicles, operating 500 vehicles in the testing phase across the emirate starting Tuesday,” stated Khalid Al Kendi, General Manager of “Sharjah Taxi. Customers will be able to rate and comment on the car and driver at the same time, as well as accurately learn about the specifics of their trip through the application.
By enabling cars to move in response to direct client demands, the program will help taxi operators prolong their operating lives by lowering pollution, preventing aimless wandering in congested streets, and minimising vehicle failures.
The Yango app can be downloaded for free on iOS and Android devices and is available in Arabic and English, among other languages. Once the location has been established, the app quickly and effectively links users with the closest taxi, guaranteeing a comfortable and speedy ride.
