Abu Dhabi: After undergoing robotic-assisted bariatric surgery at an Abu Dhabi hospital, a 24-year-old Emirati male who weighed 120 kg was able to lose 35 kg. The team at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) used modern surgical equipment that allows for less invasive surgeries with smaller incisions by giving physicians a computer-guided, enlarged 3D image. Surgeons can perform procedures more accurately and precisely when using thin robotic arms.
After undergoing surgery and post-operative treatment, Abdulla Alqattan, who battled morbid obesity and had a BMI of roughly 42, is now at ease. In just four months, this resulted in a 35 kg weight decrease. I am pleased and appreciative of the physicians and the hospital for providing this cutting-edge technology. Alqattan, who now weighs 85 kg, told Gulf News, “I am able to live a more normal life after the surgery.
Alqattan had hypercholesterolaemia, fatty liver disease, morbid obesity, and persistent knee and back discomfort when he first came to the hospital. He received thorough preoperative assessments while being evaluated at the outpatient obesity clinic. Bariatric operations at the hospital require a multidisciplinary team. To prescribe robotic-assisted sleeve gastrectomy, a group of bariatric surgeons, nutritionists, psychologists, internal medicine specialists, endocrinologists, and anaesthesiologists examined his situation.
