This year, the General Department of Transport and Rescue, Dubai Police’s search and rescue unit accomplished 4,568 missions, including rescuing 239 children who were stuck inside cars and elevators as a result of their parents’ carelessness or inadequate protective measures.
Additionally, the squad rescued individuals who were confined in cars after collisions or experienced unexpected medical emergencies while driving. Major General Rashid Al Falasi, the department’s director, stated that the hard mission teams are always ready to handle any emergency situation, around-the-clock, and in full readiness to handle any kind of crisis as quickly as possible.
He continued, “The teams are split up into shifts so that their members are prepared at any hour when they receive a report about anyone being involved in an emergency incident,” emphasizing their eagerness to help those in need and rescue them as soon as possible because time is of the essence in accidents.
As part of the police’s efforts to increase community awareness and lower the number of accidents caused by negligence, the concerned teams produced a series of YouTube awareness videos this year that included instructions on how to maintain the safety of children inside cars, homes, and elevators, he said.
