Petroleum Development Oman said on Friday activities at Mina Al Fahal port were normal, after three sources told Reuters earlier that oil loading had been suspended following an explosion near its mooring berths.
The explosion was between single-buoy mooring (SBM) 1 and 2 berths because of an alleged drone strike, the persons familiar with the case had claimed. It was not immediately clear when the attack occurred. Shipping data from LSEG showed several supertankers anchored off the port on Friday. Oman ships 800,000 to 900,000 barrels a day of crude from the facility.
Iranian state television said on Wednesday that Tehran fired on a U.S. Navy ship that was holding a “control and command centre” as it approached Iranian territorial waters in the Gulf of Oman, a claim disputed by the U.S. Central Command.
