As tensions between India and Pakistan increased overnight after airstrikes, many flights between Pakistan and the UAE were cancelled early Wednesday morning, with several experiencing significant delays.
Flights to Pakistan on May 7 have been suspended and some of our flights have been diverted due to the closure of the Pakistan airspace except Jinnah International Airport, Karachi (KHI), which is still operating,” a spokeswoman for Dubai-based flydubai told Khaleej Times in a statement.
“Passengers are advised to contact the flydubai Contact Centre in Dubai at (+971) 600 54 44 45, the flydubai travel shop, or their respective travel agent for their rebooking or refund options,” the airline spokesperson said, adding that they would continue to monitor the situation and adjust their flight schedule accordingly closely. To obtain their separate comments and flight warnings, Khaleej Times has also contacted Emirates, Etihad, and Air Arabia, three additional airlines located in the United Arab Emirates.
On Wednesday, Emirates cancelled at least three flights from Dubai to Pakistan. EK 624, scheduled to depart DXB Terminal 3 at 3.10am for Lahore, was cancelled. Flights EK 636 and EK 612, which were headed for Peshawar and Islamabad, respectively, were also cancelled.
A few Emirates flights had a multi-hour delay, while Pakistani airline Airblue (PA 210) was also cancelled. The airline was flying from Islamabad to Dubai. EK 619 and EK 623 flights from Islamabad experienced six and five-hour delays, respectively. PA 416, another PIA flight, experienced a 12-hour delay.
