Four services have been introduced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) with the goal of clearing the records of workers who have violated the law and sparing establishments from administrative fines for a two-month grace period. Under the banner “Towards a Safer Society,” the program, which is being carried out in conjunction with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, will take effect on September 1st and run until October 31st. It is intended for those who committed infractions before September 1st, 2024.
The Ministry’s services include work permit issuance, renewal, and cancellation in addition to handling complaints regarding work abandonment. Those who meet the requirements for the status settlement grace period can take advantage of these services. This includes people whose work permits have expired or who are the subject of work abandonment complaints, regardless of whether they are domestic workers or connected to businesses.
During this time, establishments can also request an exemption from administrative fines for neglecting to renew work permits and provide the employment contract to the Ministry. Applications for the settlement of violators’ status are now being accepted by the Ministry via its website, mohre.gov.ae, the MOHRE mobile app, which can be downloaded from the Apple and Google Play stores, business service centres, and domestic worker services centres.
