Eurasian Economic Commission and The UAE to Promote Trade Cooperation

Expanding trade and investment opportunities between the United Arab Emirates and the Eurasian bloc, which includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan, is a topic of discussion between Dr. Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Andrey Slepnev, Minister in charge of Trade for the Eurasian Economic Commission, during their meeting in Moscow.

The two ministers also discussed the development of the current, advanced negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which will establish a framework. The ministers discussed the areas of greatest promise for their respective private sectors during the talks, which included manufacturing, logistics, transportation, and agriculture. They also discussed the growing possibility of establishing a trade corridor between the United Arab Emirates and Russia on the north-south direction.

According to Dr. Thani, the summit reaffirmed Eurasia’s significance to the UAE’s aspirations for international trade. Our economic policy is built on our dedication to free and open trade, and our efforts to forge closer relationships with important global allies are contributing to the unprecedented growth of our non-oil international commerce. The Eurasian Economic Union is a major focus of these efforts because of its industrial capabilities, robust agricultural production sector, and advantageous location crossing two continents. My conversations this week have highlighted a common goal of further economic union. He said, “I’m sure we can seize more opportunities for our companies and realise the enormous potential of partnerships between the UAE and Southeast Asia.
