
The executive regulations for the law governing the legal profession and the legal consulting profession have been approved by the UAE Cabinet. These laws seek to create effective justice based on the ideas of cooperation and integration, build the nation’s judicial system, and develop the nation’s indicators pertaining to the rule of law and enforcement of justice. They outline the requirements and steps for moving a lawyer from the list of attorneys practising in first-instance courts to the list of attorneys practising before the Federal Supreme Court.
Furthermore, they outline the requirements for trainee lawyers’ practical training, the responsibilities of the lawyer overseeing the training, the rules governing the licensing of foreign attorneys to practice law in the United Arab Emirates, the terms and processes for registering researchers and legal advisors, the rules governing the removal and re-registration of researchers and legal advisors, and the authority of legal advisors.
They also outline the requirements for creating a register of law and legal consulting firms, the licensing, suspension, deletion, and liquidation processes, and the rules governing the equivalency of university degrees.
