Kareena Kapoor Remembers Her First Movie and Takes a Journey Down Memory Lane

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor returned her first movie, Refugee, taking a journey down memory lane. On June 30, the film’s 26th anniversary, the actress posted old stills from the film on social media. Two famous stills from the 2000 movie were shared by Kareena. In the first photo, she was shown in an emotional embrace with co-star Abhishek Bachchan; in the second, the actress was shown in close-up while wearing a brown shawl. She just added a red heart emoji to both photos.

The film Refugee” was directed by J.P. Dutta and released on June 30, 2000. Both Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor made their acting debuts in the film. The love story, set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan border in the Great Rann of Kutch focused on an unidentified man dubbed Refugee (played by Abhishek Bachchan), who helps people cross the border illegally.

His life also shifts once he develops feelings for Nazneen, played by Kareena Kapoor, as their romance becomes entangled in the unsettling division and political unrest. Despite not being a financial hit at the box office, “Refugee” was praised for its original plot, strong performances, and a poignant soundtrack. Audiences adored the new combo of Kareena and Abhishek.
