Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDFRA), stated that on the first day of the amnesty, at least 1,000 people—men, women, children, the elderly, and people of determination—visited “Amer” centres and the settlement centre for overstayers in Al Aweer, Dubai, to correct their status.
He emphasised that the program, which will run from September 1, 2024, to October 31, 2024, will assist people who have broken the residency system in changing their status within the nation or leaving with their fines waived.
He urged those who had overstayed to take advantage of the chance to change their status or depart during the grace period. The application process will be carried out through the official smart channels and service centres (typing) across the nation, he continued, adding that those who choose to leave the country during this time will not have a ban stamp on their passports.
He said that all residents and guests who want to take advantage of this amnesty at any of the 86 Amer centres in the Emirate of Dubai can do so by following the procedures that GDFRA has started to implement regarding the grace period. These centres offer comprehensive services if someone wants to change their status, either by staying in the nation or by leaving.
