Sharjah’s nature reserves are supposed to safeguard wildlife and not for people to roam about, Argues Sheikh Sultan

His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, emphasised that the Emirate of Sharjah’s nature reserves are not projects for people to walk through, but rather a balanced environment to preserve wild plants, trees, animals, insects, and reptiles in order to maintain natural balance.

His Highness announced a new environmental initiative on Al Dhaid Road, where camels, goats, sheep, and horses will be released into a huge walled area. Parking will be available on the side of the road so that visitors can enjoy this beautiful panorama of nature.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah responded to a viewer’s plea to open nature reserves to visitors during a telephone intervention on the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority’s “Direct Line” programme.

He explained, “These reserves were formed to conserve flora, trees, and animals that are in danger of extinction. Many birds are hunted for minor reasons, and reserves provide them with a secure home. Birds, insects, reptiles, and animals can all find sanctuary and reproduce in these regions. Allowing public access would jeopardise their safety, especially because snakes exist in the reserves.
