UAE and Uruguay to Cooperate on Clean Energy and Climate Action

The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) and Uruguay’s Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025.

The memorandum was signed by Nawal Al Hanaee, Director of the Future Energy Department at MoEI, and Christian Nieves Lauz, National Energy Director of Uruguay’s Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining. The agreement states that both parties will share knowledge and expertise, hold high-level discussion meetings, and organise workshops in energy-related fields. Al Hanaee underlined that such cooperation help to shape the shift to clean and renewable energy.

Furthermore, it will help open up new avenues for growth and development as both countries work to diversify their energy mix and rely on sustainable energy.

She noted that this pact represents both parties’ shared commitment to forging strategic partnerships for mutual benefit by establishing a framework for collaboration in crucial sectors such as renewable energy and climate change.

Meanwhile, Suhail Bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, emphasised the UAE’s leadership in clean and renewable energy, emphasising its critical role in stabilising global energy markets and driving sustainable development through significant domestic energy investments.
