Emirates SkyCargo has begun a weekly freighter service to Toronto Pearson Airport, enhancing air cargo connections between Canada and the UAE. The new service improves cargo connectivity for Canadian enterprises and facilitates increased bilateral trade flows.
Badr Abbas, Emirates SkyCargo’s Divisional Senior Vice President, stated, “Our freighter service to Toronto marks a significant milestone for Emirates SkyCargo as we continue to strategically expand our freighter fleet and network to meet growing trade pathways. Exports from Canada to the UAE have been steadily expanding in recent years, rising 24% year on year between 2023 and 2024, aided by direct air connectivity and strong bilateral economic connections.
Our weekly freighter to Toronto adds to this excellent momentum by offering Canadian firms with an additional 100 tons of export capacity every week in addition to belly hold cargo capacity on Emirates passenger flights. The aircraft will connect Canada to its greatest trading partner, the EU, with a stop in Amsterdam on the inbound section.”The introduction of Emirates’ freighter service to Toronto Pearson is a significant milestone for our airport,” said Kurush Minocher, Chief Commercial Officer of Toronto Pearson. “As Canada’s largest air cargo hub, carrying over 45% of the country’s total, we play an important role in boosting the economy by connecting Canadian firms to global markets.
